First Things First | 1 Peter 1

First Things First | 1 Peter 1

First Things First - is the second message of the new sermon series - Upon This Rock. The first chapter of 1 Peter is very much about getting our thinking right and focusing on what really matters. What Peter expounds to believers in 64 AD is still so relevant in 2020 AD - who we are; where we are from; what is waiting for us; why there are trials and challenges; how we should live and conduct our lives.

Is it your desire to be a walking, talking letter sent from God to people looking for answers? This message will assist you on that journey.

This is Peter | Introduction to 1 & 2 Peter

This is Peter | Introduction to 1 & 2 Peter

This Is Peter - launches our new sermon series - Upon This Rock. In it we get to know the author of the amazing New Testament letters, 1 & 2 Peter, it outlines why they were written and what they teach. They come from a man who both walked, and shared life, with Jesus. He was then powerfully used by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and thereafter.

This key figure used in the building of God’s church has much to tell us from firsthand experience. He encourages and prepares believers on how to face suffering and persecution, together with guidance on how to live the Christian life in a hostile world. Both letters have so much to teach us in the world in which we now live.

Represent | Acts 26-28

Represent | Acts 26-28

Having been called and appointed by the Lord Jesus Himself, not only do we see in this message that Apostle Paul was Christ’s ambassador at Rome, but also that he very much fulfilled the role of representing the Lord and re-presenting the gospel, both at Caesarea and whilst en route to his final destination.

This is the last of 8 messages in our summer sermon series ‘Simple Acts of Revival’. Working through the book of Acts, the series focuses on the early church and seeks to identify and imitate the things that were done then, in the hope and expectation that God will bring about another Awakening in our time.

Re-Establish | Acts 20-25

Re-Establish | Acts 20-25

We travel from Acts to the modern day in this message - Re-establish. The Apostle Paul had been used mightily by God in the 1st Century to establish churches and leaders all around the Mediterranean. We are now in the 21st Century and God is still using men and women to re-establish His Kingdom on the earth. The baton/mantle has been passed to the modern-day church - us! Are you ready to play your part?

As you listen we pray that God will establish in your heart His plan and purpose for you.

‘Re-Establish’ is the 7th message of the sermon series - ‘Simple Acts of Revival’ - For more information about our current services, please visit onechurch.uk/church-online

Reproduce | Acts 16-19

Reproduce | Acts 16-19

Do we realise the important part we have to play in building God’s church? In Acts chapters 16-19, we read about Paul’s missionary travels into lands that had not yet received the Gospel. We see how God not only continues to do a powerful work through Paul and his travelling companions but also through the newer believers like Timothy, Lydia, Silas, Aquila and Priscilla. Through the simple acts of revival done by these ordinary disciples, the church of Jesus begins reproducing disciples as it extends to new territories. As you listen to this message today, may you be empowered to see how God can likewise use your faithful service for His glory.

Recognise | Acts 8-15

Recognise | Acts 8-15

Do we really recognise the new thing God is doing in our time? In Acts chapters 8-15, we see how God began to open the door for non-Jews to receive the light of the Gospel. Through divinely orchestrated events, the early church begins to recognise their missionary calling to the Gentile world. They must also recognise the unlikely vessels that God is choosing for this new venture, such as the newly converted Saul who would become known as Apostle Paul. For us, just like the early church, there will always be new things that God is doing in our time that he expects us to see and embrace.

Recap | Acts 6-8

Recap | Acts 6-8

To Recap or Recapitulate has nothing to do with giving in to an opponent. In fact, it’s quite the opposite, and in this 4th message of the sermon series - ‘Simple Acts of Revival’ - we see that as the early Church grows, so does the level of resistance and enemy tactic towards it. Nevertheless, the disciples are relentless and continue to preach the kingdom and Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Fundamentally, while it is God who will determine if and when we will see another Awakening in our time, it is up to us, as God’s servants, to choose whether or not we will be a hindrance or a help to its progress.

Re-organise | Acts 5-6

Re-organise | Acts 5-6

As we continue to look at the early Church through the Book of Acts, in our Sermon Series 'Simple Acts of Revival, we come to a situation where the Apostles are confronted with a bias in the distribution of food to the widows. In view of the situation the Apostles see the issue requires some re-organising and through verses 1-7 of chapter 6, we see how this was achieved.

In this message we look at the steps the Apostles took to re-organise the fair distribution of food and consider how we can learn from their experience.

Receive | Acts 1-2

Receive | Acts 1-2

Join us this week as we begin to unpack the incredible story of the early church as told in the Acts of the apostles. In Acts chapters 1-2, we see the first generation of Jesus followers ready and poised to receive what had been promised to them - the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Though 2000 years have passed since the day of Pentecost, the same promise of this incredible power from on high remains open for us. Like the early church, this is also where we need to start to see awakening to God come in our time.

‘Receive’ is the first message in our new summer sermon series, Simple Acts of Revival!

We are going back to where it all began to bring about a brighter future. Simple Acts of Revival is a walk through the Book of Acts in the New Testament from start to finish. In this series, we will be observing what the early church did in their time so that we can begin to anticipate the actions needed for a new spiritual awakening in our time. These messages will be delivered in our Church Online Services every Sunday throughout June-July.

Whose Hand?

Whose Hand?

This message is taken from Psalm 119 and in particular verse 173, it is entitled 'Whose Hand?'.

As individuals, there are times when we require and request the intervention of a third party to assist us and give us help; whether in simple terms or more complex ones.  Such a request is not uncommon - it is one human being reaching out to another human being.  How much greater though, if that request is made to God.

‘Whose Hand?’ is the third message in our May 2020 sermon series - ‘Come What May’. It explores the powerful prayers and declarations as found in Psalm 119:169-176.

It May Look Like I'm Surrounded

It May Look Like I'm Surrounded

What do you surround yourself with? Do you surround yourself with worship for God and reading his Word, or, do you succumb to the negative forces that encircle us everyday?

‘It May Look Like I’m Surrounded’ is the second message in our May 2020 sermon series - ‘Come What May’. It explores the powerful prayers and declarations as found in Psalm 119:169-176.

The message also explores the book of Psalms as a whole and how it is designed to impart spiritual strength to God’s worshippers in every generation. It may look like we are surrounded in our battles, but as we draw close in worship and in reading scripture, we realise that we are surrounded by a God who fights for us.

Kingdom Rise

Kingdom Rise

Following the death and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus spends time appearing to His disciples before departing from the earth. It is this departure - the Ascension - that is the focus of this 4th and final message in our current sermon series, ‘Cross Roads’. It is entitled Kingdom Rise.

Kingdom Rise provides insight to the highly significant journey that Jesus, as the Christ, makes from earth to heaven. It does this whilst also making reference to mission on earth, and to both the Old and New Covenants.  As disciples of Jesus we are destined to follow Him.

‘Kingdom Rise’ is the fourth and final instalment of our April 2020 sermon series - ‘Cross Roads’. For more information, please visit onechurch.uk/church-online

Emmaus Road

Emmaus Road

The Bible contains numerous accounts of individuals, groups of people and a whole Nation going on a journey, each of which identifies the who, when and where they occurred; they the also reveal their nature and character as they respond to specific incidents and challenges they encounter, in doing so we see the revelation of God and how their specific journey comes to a close.

The Emmaus Road journey is no different and as you listen to this message,  you will understand the importance of the Old Testament and why it is so crucial for all Christians to read them as well, of course, the New Testament.
